CyberSecurityTips #19: What is Just-In-Time (JIT) Permission elevation?

JIT permission elevation is a security feature that allows a user to temporarily escalate their privileges in order to complete a task that requires elevated permissions. Once the task is complete, the permissions are automatically revoked. JIT elevation can be used for both local and network tasks.

It is an important security tool as it minimizes the amount of time that a user has elevated privileges. This reduces the chances that the user will perform unauthorized actions or that malware will exploit the elevated privileges to gain access to sensitive data.
